Baseball Digest/eBay announced today that it has named Padres’ Kirby Yates its Relief Pitcher of the Year. This award is chosen annually by a 17-member panel of longtime baseball observers.

Kirby Yates, the majors’ saves leader this season, converted 41 of 44 saves while posting a 1.19 ERA, the lowest among all relievers and a new career-best.

The 2019 All-Star also set new career standards with 101 strikeouts, strikeouts per nine innings (15.0), strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.77), WHIP (0.89), walks per nine innings (1.9) and homers per nine innings (0.3).
