21 Mar Alex Cobb Signs 4-year, $57M Contract with Orioles
Free-agent RHP Alex Cobb agreed to a four-year, $57 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles. His contract, negotiated by BHSC President Dan Horwits, is the largest in the club’s history for a free-agent pitcher.
“We have always believed in Alex’s value and we refused to bend on what he deserved despite the stalemates and odd circumstances surrounding his free-agent class,” said Horwits. “We take great pride in knowing Alex and his family are part of the Baltimore Orioles organization for the next four years.”
Cobb has earned a deep track record of success pitching in the American League East for the Tampa Bay Rays. He has a 21-13 career record and 3.08 ERA against division opponents.
Cobb compiled a 48-35 record and 3.50 ERA in six seasons with the Rays, including a 12-10 record, 3.66 ERA and career-high 179 1/3 innings in 2017.
