17 Apr Giants Pablo Sandoval Unveils “Pablo’s Place” in San Francisco

San Francisco Giants’ Pablo Sandoval has joined the Good Tidings Foundation to renovate the youth Games Room at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Columbia Park Clubhouse. Re-named “Pablo’s Place,” the Games Room was unveiled on Thursday, April 25. The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony, question and answer session between Giants broadcaster Dave Flemming, Pablo Sandoval and the youth, and the official signing of the “Pablo’s Place” life size wall graphic.

“Pablo’s Place,” which has been completely re-designed by Good Tidings’ construction and architect partners MBH Architects and W.L. Butler Construction, features all new furniture, new carpet, a custom paint scheme, custom built cabinets and stage, as well as a pool table, foosball table, two ping pong tables, a bumper pool table, a Sony PS4, two new large flat-screen smart TVs, state-of-the art lighting, and a new sound system.

“It’s been one of my dreams to do something special like this for the kids in San Francisco and to make them happy. The new Games Room will provide a safe, fun, and comfortable place to play and hang out with friends,” said Pablo Sandoval. “I hope ‘Pablo’s Place’ will be a difference-maker for many years.”

The Columbia Park Clubhouse is centrally located in the Mission District and serves 170 Club members per day and 1,291 each year. Nationally recognized for its innovative programs and excellence in the arts, the Clubhouse is active every day with youth ages 6 to 18, with programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, job readiness, and good character and community engagement. The Club is open every day after school and all day long in the summer, for a total of 225 days per year.

“Kids come to the Club to make new friends, build skills, feel a sense of belonging, and develop relationships with our skilled and caring staff who enable and inspire them to reach their full potential,” said Rob Connolly, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. “The Games Room at Columbia Park is the heart of the Club, and with such a strong Latino population, it makes a ton of sense to have a positive role model like the ‘Panda’ there for the kids to look up to every day.”
