Veteran MLB Agent Danny Horwits Completes Purchase of Beverly Hills Sports Council

LOS ANGELES, Calif (November 10, 2021) – Veteran baseball agent Danny Horwits today announced the acquisition of Beverly Hills Sports Council (BHSC) from founding partner Rick Thurman, after more than 30 years in business together. The exit of Thurman marks the end of BHSC’s affiliation with former parent company BHSC Global, and the beginning of a new chapter for the company in its 37th year of representing professional baseball players.

“Rick and I have worked together since I started at BHSC as an intern in 1987,” said Horwits.  “Together we built a business that I am extremely proud of, and it wouldn’t have happened without his hard work, leadership and pioneering efforts in the industry. I wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.

Over three decades, Horwits has specialized in negotiating market-leading deals and has established himself as one of the most successful agents in MLB arbitration. In 2021, BHSC negotiated a 4-year, $82 million contract for Kansas City Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez, the largest contract in franchise history, and represented two first round picks in the MLB Draft.  BHSC currently represents over 40 MLB players and dozens of top prospects, including the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball, Adley Rutschman.  BHSC players have made 137 All Star Game appearances in the company’s history.

“BHSC has always prioritized innovation to consistently provide industry-leading service to our clients, and I am extremely excited about the future of our agency,” said Horwits.   “Over the years we have meticulously assembled a great group of agents who have made the BHSC brand even stronger, and I am looking forward to helping them thrive and flourish as we move forward together.”

Continuing forward with Horwits and BHSC’s support staff will be MLBPA-certified agents Mark Leinweaver, Cesar Suarez, Dan Vertlieb, Josh Borkin, Dan Rosquete, and Brett Ossola.  Together this group has over 80 years of experience representing baseball players.

Founded in 1984 by Rick Thurman and Dennis Gilbert, Beverly Hills Sports Council was launched to pioneer the baseball agency business. Today, BHSC offers its clients industry-leading expertise in contract negotiations and salary arbitration, and will continue to provide full-service representation in areas such as athlete marketing, social media, public relations, accounting, player development and analytics, equipment management, performance training, amateur advisory services and NIL support.
